    Pedigree Charm Featured

Pedigree Charm released in 1982, offers a complete change of style from the previous album. I remember being rather disappointed when I first heard this one. Beat Rhythm News was one of my all-time favourites and I was ready for more of the same. The in your face punk urgency was almost gone and replaced by an altogether more slick, soulful and restrained sound. However, it turned out to be a grower.

    Welcome to Original New Wave

Original New Wave (ONW) is a new site that will explore the Post-Punk and New Wave era of 1977-1983. That era, nearly forty years ago was one of the most interesting, creative and exciting times in rock and pop history. Some New Wave artists are now established giants of the industry, but so many more had only the briefest of stints in the limelight. Many of today's bands are still informed and inspired by the sounds, aesthetics and even the politics of this age. The aim of ONW is to gather together as much interesting and relevant content as possible, with recommendations to kick-start your own collections. Look out for our artist biographies, essential albums and collections, YouTube videos and ONW's carefully selected playlists. Hope to see you back here soon.
